An Introduction to Incorporating Augmentative and Alternative Communication Systems into Instructional Design and Applied Behavior Analytic Tactics

Developing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Systems can be integral in the process of achieving successful outcomes for our clients, especially when proper consideration for their introduction and use are taken into account. AAC assessments can help drive specialized instruction and match which communication modality may be best suited for the speaker. This presentation will review low and high-tech AAC systems, discuss features of systems and how to best match them to your clients through AAC evaluations, and examine best practices for teaching clients AAC. Attendees will also discover ways to utilize technology of AAC systems in behavior analytic protocols.
