Abstract: The population of clinical BCBAs and BCaBAs continues to grow each year, while the number of academic researchers in the field of behavior analysis remains stagnant. As these populations continue to grow further apart in number, the Research-to-Practice Gap widens, which presents significant barriers for applied practitioners, as well as for academic researchers. During this training, we will discuss the benefits of applied research to the field of ABA. We will review guidance from recent literature on the topic of applied research, and we will identify solutions as well as ethical considerations to some of the most significant barriers cited by practitioners in the field.

Training Objectives:
Discuss the benefits of Applied Research
Define the Research-to-Practice Gap
Identify common barriers to Applied Research
Identify ethical considerations and solutions
