Tidewater SIG Webinar

Join Emily Wilson and colleagues for a Sip n’ Learn discussion about Motivational Interviewing.  1 CEU will be provided.

Beverages and charcuterie welcome. We’ll do an hour of CE content and then hang out for a less structured discussion/wine-fueled brainstorm.

In this workshop, we will address treatment teams as complex and sensitive systems, centering on the client’s individual needs. In pediatric service provision, a treatment team is likely to include a variety of professionals and caregivers, each playing an essential role in support and intervention. Incorporating the “soft skills” required to orient treatment team members to viewpoints they may not otherwise consider can present a challenge for Behavior Analysts. Motivational Interviewing provides an evidence-based framework for having sometimes difficult conversations. Using MI, team members work together to determine a path forward and act on that decision. Taking a systematic approach to understanding and competently supporting all stakeholders ensures that Behavior Analysts are aligning our committed action with our collective value to uplift our service recipients.

Attendees will be able to…
-define Motivational Interviewing
-identify the critical and variable features of Motivational Interviewing
-provide examples scenarios when use of MI may be beneficial in practice
