Objectives:
- Identify the value of behavior analysis in public school systems
- Identify and discuss the context, constraints, and contingencies that facilitate or restrict the adoption and/or application of behavior analysis and behavior analytic practices in public schools
- Identify and discuss opportunities for behavior analysts to expand their scope of competence and promote behavior analytic practices within public school systems
Facilitator: Daniel Irwin, M.Ed.,BCBA, LBA
Facilitator Bio: Daniel is a Training and Technical Assistance Associate at VCU-ACE, where he works to bridge the gap between evidence-based practices and classroom implementation. With two decades of experience in public and private educational settings, and as a Specialist at the Virginia Department of Education, Daniel focuses on empowering teachers and helping school leaders leverage behavior analysis for systemic change. He is a co-author for the Professional Standards for School-Based Behavior Analysts and Considerations for School Leaders in Leveraging School-Based Behavior Analysis for Systemic Improvement in Public Education, Daniel is a dedicated advocate for high-quality, school-based support. His extensive background as a division-wide Behavior Analyst includes leading MTSS initiatives, updating division FBA/BIP procedures, and providing high quality professional development and hands-on coaching to school leadership teams to improve student outcomes.
