Member Town Hall Meeting

This Town Hall is an opportunity for members to provide input on the upcoming activities of the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) ABA Benefit Utilization Workgroup. The session will also provide the association’s perspective on the upcoming Workgroup’s efforts to examine Medicaid expenditures and utilization trends related to ABA services and identify strategies to manage costs while preserving access to care for individuals who need these services.”

Please come prepared to provide input on the following:

  • What does DMAS need to better understand about behavior analysis and Medicaid-funded ABA services? Are there common misconceptions, areas of confusion, or important distinctions that should be clarified?
  • What strategies could help identify, prevent, or address inadequate, inappropriate, or fraudulent clinical and billing practices within Virginia’s ABA provider community?
  • What ideas do you have for reducing the overall cost of Medicaid-funded ABA services while preserving access to medically necessary, high-quality care?
  • How does the location of services impact the individuals you serve (i.e. clinic vs. home or community)?
  • Do your clients experience barriers to being provided services in the home or community? Please describe.

All attendees must be VABA members and must register for the event. All registrants will be sent a Zoom link via email on the morning of the event. Registration will close at midnight on Monday, August 31, 2026
