The purpose of the VCU Autism Center for Excellence (VCU-ACE) is to conduct advanced training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities specifically to improve the educational and behavioral outcomes of individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities served in comprehensive public schools. VCU-ACE is one state grant project under the VCU Research Rehabilitation and Training Center (VCU-RRTC). The purpose of the VCU-RRTC is to facilitate the provision of state-of-the-art services for individuals with disabilities across the lifespan that promote access to competitive employment opportunities.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The chief purpose of the Training and Technical Assistance Associate is to fulfill the commitments of the VCU Autism Center for Excellence (VCU-ACE) to the Superintendent’s Region 1 school divisions in contractual partnership with VCU-ACE, as well as the Virginia Department of Education.
VCU-ACE improves services and supports for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by promoting the implementation of research–based practices in schools and the community through training, technical assistance, research, and collaboration.
The Training and Technical Assistance Associate will provide professional development to expand the expectations, knowledge, and skills of those who live with, educate, and support individuals with ASD. It supports the sustainable implementation of research-based practices by providing instructional activities and resources to anyone who wants to learn more about ASD and to leaders who guide professional development initiatives at home, school, community, and work. The Training and Technical Assistance Associate’s core responsibilities include:
-Provide contractual deliverables to participating divisions in Superintendent’s Region 1.
-Implement and evaluate systems change initiatives customized to the unique needs of regional consortium stakeholders.
-Coach school personnel to execute evidence-based behavior analytic assessment and intervention practices in a variety of situations across a variety of students with intensive behavior support needs.
-Co-design professional development content to support division leaders in creating sustainable training systems.
-Facilitate the delivery of evidence-based instructional practices at the student and classroom levels through building capacity in school leaders.
Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or a closely related field and/or equivalent training.
BCBA® certification and state licensure and extensive experience in delivering behavior analytic services in applied settings.
Extensive applied knowledge of autism and associated evidence-based practices used with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Prior experience in teaching or administration in public school systems.
Prior experience delivering systematic personnel training and technical assistance within public school settings.
Excellent communication skills.
Regional and overnight travel is occasionally required.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Statewide training and technical assistance experience, knowledge and experience executing organizational-based management techniques in a public system.

Salary: $70,000 – $90,000
