The College of Education (COE) at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis. The COE seeks a behavior analyst that has a terminal degree in education, psychology, or behavior analysis, and that meets the requirements of the Association for Behavior Analysis International to teach for a BCBA® and BCaBA® Verified Course Sequence. This is a full time, renewable, non-tenure-track, 11-month faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, working with a diverse undergraduate/graduate student body. In addition, the candidate must have a substantive knowledge base in their area(s) of expertise, demonstration of inclusive education, digital pedagogies, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to lifelong learning. The successful candidate will teach online coursework to graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree seeking students. The candidate may choose to be on our historic Staunton campus, but may also be fully remote (within the United States) if they prefer.
Responsibilities for this position:
Teach courses that support the graduate and undergraduate programs, as well as non-degree programs (online)
Maintain an active research agenda (scholarship) related to their subspecialty or expertise within behavior analysis
Administrative responsibilities to support recruitment, program development, and student retention
Membership on University and College of Education Committees
Academic advisement and mentorship of students
Service as a project chair for students completing culminating research projects
Participate in University, community, and professional service
Other duties assigned by the dean or program director
Qualifications and skills (required/preferred):
Candidates will possess a doctorate (Ed.D., Psy.D., or Ph.D.) in Education, Psychology, or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABD will be considered).
Candidates will meet the requirements of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) to teach for a BCBA® and BCaBA® Verified Course Sequence (BCBA® or BCBA-D® credential strongly preferred; candidates who do not hold these credentials must demonstrate that they otherwise meet ABAI’s criteria).
Candidates will demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidates will demonstrate commitment to inclusive learner-centered education, innovative educational models, and readiness to participate in inter-professional education opportunities with the Mary Baldwin University Faculty and Students.
Candidates will have experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students, particularly through online modalities (preferred).
Candidates will demonstrate evidence of engagement in teaching, research, and/or service that contributes to building and sustaining equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.
Candidates will demonstrate the ability to exercise leadership in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and customizing educational experiences.
