Behavior Analysts and Assistant Behavior Analysts, we need your help! The continuing education requirements for a license in Virginia do not currently align with those of the BACB. There is a proposal to rectify the situation and your public comment will help ensure the change goes through. The VABA Policy committee has worked with APBA and taken the liberty of writing a sample statement. You may use this one or create your own.
I [name and license type] support the proposed changes in continuing education requirements. As a Board Certified [Assistant] Behavior Analyst, it is also my recommendation that current certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) be required for obtaining and maintaining licenses in Virginia. That would ensure that all licensees meet current standards set by the profession, which are updated periodically by the BACB based on job analysis studies and developments in the field.
